Robert R. Lackney

“I paint 5 hours each day — everyday. I am doing what I wanted to do when I was 5 years old, to step into the paint and canvas and become a part of it.”

Where Art Meets Architecture: The Life & Vision of Robert R. Lackney

The Architect’s Eye, The Artist’s Heart

Most architects are focused on the detail of putting pieces and parts together to meet codes and regulations. A true architect is the master builder, responsible for turning a conceptual image into a standing structure.

Artists and architects are both interested in observing, perceiving, and interpreting the world around them. The two types of work are complementary—dependent on an unseen structure or concept, invisible until fully materialized.

However, there's a common misconception that architects must maintain a high level of artistry. In truth, architecture is geometry — it's all mathematics. Artists don’t need technical knowledge or social conscience to create.

A Rare Dual Talent

Only a few people are capable of relating their work within their field or across disciplines. Lackney is a rare artist and architect — competitive, visionary, and deeply creative.

His innovation is the result of 60+ years of work. He found that the mind is capable of anything; the intellect plays in the head, creating obsessions. Combining art and architecture, he stood outside artificial boundaries and opened new doors.

He credits his father for giving him a “creative imagination” — a gift that shaped the extraordinary body of work he still creates today.

Creating from Memory, Spirit, and Story

In the end, we draw from our memories, exaggerations, perceptions, struggles, and fictions — making things to be experienced in the present moment.

Contemporary Artworks was founded to encourage people to explore what visual arts offer in their spiritual journey. Through Lackney’s work, new abstract paintings and décor spark conversation, emotion, and reflection.

These pieces also become catalysts for research into the visual arts, theology, culture, and architecture — while offering timeless beauty for your walls.

A Gallery Built with Intention

Contemporary Artworks was created to fill a void in the art world — to provide a sacred space for collectors, curators, and dreamers to find meaningful work from an artist who mastered both technical precision and expressive freedom.
